Writing to me is everything. Through various short stories I’ve written, there’s a sense of creative expression that I can convey to others. Even today, I use storytelling elements to further my career in becoming a Public Relations Specialist, whether in sports or a different industry.
A few assignments required me to do a little more than think of certain content to fill in. Week Three’s assignment of writing an adverse letter along with the proposal draft (although a discussion post) was the most challenging for me. It required a bit of research, along with expanding upon the introduction and areas I needed to understand to present better to the potential investor.

The concrete skill of persuasive writing caught my attention. We are always right with the intent to get the reader to believe what we’re saying, and that’s how I write all the time. Peter Frederick stated, “Persuasive writing should yield a result,” in everything I write, from my social media posts to text messages with my friends, the endgame is to get results about whatever we talk about. In the future, I’ll also take the time to utilize several elements to have the reader absorb the message instead of filling it with fluff.

Dhameer gave me some valuable advice that stuck with me when I wrote the proposal draft in week three. At first, I wrote the financial portion of the proposal to state what I’d do, but he suggested that providing a clear plan for revenue and addressing a sustainable economic strategy could make the proposal effective and viable. The proposal draft incorporates that advice, and I expounded upon the financial plan more than I did in the research portion.

Although it can be complex to maintain professional writing while I’m on social media, it comes down to understanding my audience and writing for them. The more we utilize social media, the more it becomes vital to growing an audience and getting noticed. Challenging myself to keep readers engaged will always be the goal to succeed. Creating meaningful content that connects with my audience would create a persona that optimizes my content while allowing my audience to understand my brand better.
